OpenFest 2024 - call for participation
OpenFest 2024 will be held on November 2nd and 3rd, 2024 at the John Atanasoff Forum in Sofia Tech Park, Sofia, Bulgaria.
The goal of OpenFest for over 20 years is to:
– to promote projects and ideas implemented using free and open source software, or released under a free license;
– to be a meeting place for people, where they share knowledge and experience in all the diverse topics and nuances of freedom;
– to showcase and inspire the creation of free art by exploring the boundaries of creativity;
– to help anyone who wants to get involved in open source and free software.
We would like to receive your lecture, workshop, and stand submissions that belong to the following tracks until September 15, 2024:
Advanced Technical – For technical talks of greater complexity. If you want to go more in-depth when discussing a technology in a way unsuitable for beginners, this is the category for your lecture. For example, if you want to talk about complex bugs, a subsystem of the Linux kernel, or non-trivial optimizations, then your talk falls into this category.
Technical – Intended for any presentations about open and free technologies. This is the track in which you can tell us what new stuff you have discovered recently and present it in a practical and easily understandable manner (so that even novices can get it).
OpenArt – Art is meant to provoke. Open art is even more compelling because it allows you, in addition to creating it, to make it reusable through an open license, such as Creative Commons. Show us how you understand freedom in the best way — through music, paintings, animations, graphics, songs, dance, and all the other expressive art forms that shape you as an artist.
Community and Social – We always give voice to people who have something to share despite the technical focus of the conference. If you want to talk about open communities, education, or governance. To say something about free/open licenses or how one can make a living with their hobby. To share successful applications of open principles. And why not user experience and inclusion. Then this stream is for you!
Misc – Miscellaneous events
Please keep in mind that the presentations will later be published under the CC-BY-ND (Creative Commons – Attribution – No derivatives) license.
